A server without digging through files
No writing .bat files, no hand-editing serverDZ.cfg. A tester got a modded server running in just over 2 minutes, from install to launch.
The machine should look after itself. The admin should look after the community.

No subscribing in the launcher, copying to the server and adding them to the start script. Pick a mod and SimpleDZ downloads it.
Normally the server goes down because an update came out, and you fire up Steam, wait for the files and start the server again. Here it all happens on its own, with a warning for players.
Scheduled restarts and messages for players, plus server backups.
Native on Linux — and a Linux dedicated server is usually cheaper.
We're doing this because we remember how exhausting it was.
I used to run a DayZ server. Not the biggest one, but now and then we brushed against the top 100 on BattleMetrics. What I remember most is fighting everything except what actually mattered. An anniversary or a holiday spent rescuing a mod that stopped compiling — luckily we had a backup. An hour and a half explaining to a friend where to type what and which key to copy, just to get his tool running. Endless requests for "a ready-made
.batfile".DayZ is a great game, but setting up a server is hard. The tools out there help, but they often bring their own problems.
I'm not an admin anymore, but I remember what wore me down. By day I program machines, and every spare moment goes into SimpleDZ. The first testers are friends from those days. We're doing this because we remember how exhausting it was.
Wants to spend time on the server, not on checking whether it's even running. Three of us once spent days putting a loot map together: pieces from Notepad sent back and forth, the whole thing in Excel just to know how much of what was on the map. And again for every mod.
